Subject: galaxy NGC 5363
Dear Taichi,
Last night I have noticed a starlike object near the core of NGC 5363,
some 20" SWS of it.
I estimated it around 13.5 magnitude.
According to my data, this galaxy is type irregular and about 20 Mpc
from us yielding SNeType Ia around magnitude 13.0
Somehow what I saw could be a foreground star, but is difficult to see
on the DSS images and those from A Wassilieff.
Is it possible that someone in Japan could check it out, possibly also
by looking at past images (not overexposed) of this galaxy.
I will appreciate any efforts to solve the uncertainty.
Possibly and hopefully this might be a new SN. If this were to be
confirmed, can you please forward any confirmation report with proper
astrometry to me and/or also IAUC.
During the week-ends I will not be able to access my e-mail.
Good luck and thanks for your always assistance...
Kind regards,
Berto Monard / Pretoria
PS it was a visual observation with a 12" telescope and I have had no
previous look at this galaxy..
