Dear Collegues: We have recently submitted the following
to the IAUC notices:

XTE J1859+226 Optical Photometry:

Michael Garcia, Jeffrey McClintock (CfA, Cambridge MA), Paul Callanan
(University College, Cork) and A.V. Filippenko (UC Berkeley) report:

As a follow-up to IAUC 7463 (Rodriguez-Gil and Casares), we report
further observations of the optical counterpart to this soft x-ray
transient which recently underwent optical and x-ray re-flares
(cf IAUC 7451 and IAUC 7456).

Observations with the CTIO 0.9m telescope on July 23.1, 24.1, and 25.1
(UT) find R = 20.8 +/- 0.3, 20.2 +/- 0.1, 19.8 +/- 0.1. Seeing was
2.7", 1.5", and 1.4" on each of the nights, with thin clouds on the
first and clear skys on the next two.

Thus this object appears to be undergoing yet another optical
brightening.

Observations on the Keck-II telescope also show a brightening
in the K band between July 22(UT) and July 24(UT).
