[vsnet 959] How many of us have poor eyesight?

G'day all,

"How many of the world's variable star observers wear spectacles or
contact lenses all the time?"

I was thrown this question by a 12-year-old student.  I can't answer it,
except by asking if you (or your observers) need to wear visual help of
any kind.

The statistics for South Australia are:

Use spectacles/contact lenses always = 5
Use spectacles for reading           = 3
Does not need spectacles at all      = 4

Now, how about some numbers from the rest of you please?
