hello, As a reaction on what Fraser Farrell wrote on dec.19 i can say that the version 5.0 of the program Guide (CD) is already available for a few month's. I am using it for a few month's, and i must say it is almost "perfect" (for my needs), and i am very satisfied with it. I use the program mostly for plotting findercharts for variable stars, of wich only e charts are available, that i add to my observing plan, and also for plotting comet trails. However i have to warn people that a vew things may be dangerous to do. - In some cases the position of te variable star is wrong! (S Her; UW And; ES Del; v482 Cyg and maybe more!). So the position of the variable star must always be taken from the AAVSO d or e chart (exept for RW And, where a 15.0 star is changed with RW). - The brightness of the stars is not the same as the brightness off the AAVSO charts, so never use them for estimates. My conclusion is that Guide 5.0 is a perfect program for plotting findercharts (for a good price), and is extremely usefull for a lot of other purposes also. greetings, Merry christmas and a cloudless new year.
