0100 0110 Nova Cassiopeiae 1995 - Photometry Update No. 11 (1996/01/24) 0120 ============================================================= 0130 0140 Type: NB? Magnitude: 7.1 [V] - 18 [R] Spectrum: Pec(N) 0150 0160 This nova was discovered by Minoru Yamamoto (Okazaki, Aichi, Japan) 0170 on exposures from Aug. 24, 1995 [IAUC 6213]. Robert Argyle, Royal 0180 Greenwich Observatory, England, has reported the following accurate 0190 position (equinox J2000.0, FK5 reference frame, epoch 1995.69): 0200 0210 R.A. = 01h 05m 05s.353 Decl. = +54d 00' 40".12 [IAUC 6233] 0220 +/- 0s.004 +/- 0".07 0230 0240 It is based on 10 observations with the Carlsberg Automatic Meridian 0250 Circle on La Palma by C. Fabricius and M. Vallejo. The corresponding 0260 position for equinox B1950.0 is RA = 01h 02m 07s, Decl. = +53d 44'.6. 0690 0700 This nova underwent a major brightening in mid-December 1995, and 0710 at maximum it reached a visual magnitude near mv = 7.0. Thereafter it 0720 has faded quite rapidly to mv = 8.5, which was followed by a slower 0730 fade to its current magnitude around mv = 9.5, i.e. slightly fainter 0740 than at discovery. The light curve of Nova Cas 1995 has shown strong 0750 similarities to the bright nova in Delphinus in 1967 (HR Del). 0770 0780 - - - 0790 0800 This report contains photometric observations of Nova Cas 1995. New 0810 entries since Report No. 10 (1996 Jan 11) are labelled by an asterisk 0820 (*), while revised data are identified by a cross (#). A dollar sign 0830 ($) identifies the discovery observation. 0840 0850 An abridged version of this document, which only contains new and 0860 revised observations since Report No. 10, is sent to the VARSTARS, 0870 VSNET and NOVA distribution lists, and the Usenet news groups 0880 'sci.astro.amateur' and 'sci.astro.research' The full version is 0890 available upon email request or from the following ftp sites: 0900 0910 ftp://ftp.kusastro.kyoto-u.ac.jp/pub/vsnet/Novae/nova_cas95/ 0920 ftp://medusa.uio.no/pub/bgranslo/variable/n1995cas/ 0930 0940 Alternatively one may visit the WWW site of VSNET: 0950 0960 http://www.kusastro.kyoto-u.ac.jp/vsnet/ 0990 1000 Magnitude systems [MS] 1010 mv Visual 1020 pv Photovisual 1030 p Photographic 1040 C Unfiltered CCD magnitude 1050 CV CCD magnitude with V filter 1060 V Photoelectric Johnson V 1180 1190 Sequences [SEQ]: 1210 TA Sequence from The Astronomer Electronic Circular 991 1240 AA AAVSO Variable Star Atlas 1260 AN AAVSO (b) and (d) charts, via AAVSO Alert Notice 213 (seq. 1270 from Hipparcos Input Catalogue and Guide Star< Catalog) 1280 HI Hipparcos Input Catalogue (Turon et al., 1992) 1290 MU Mean UBV Catalogue (Mermilliod & Mermilliod, 1994) 1310 SK Photoelectric (V, b-y) sequence by B.
