[vsnet-superoutburst 535] WZ Sge phase-averaged light curve

WZ Sge phase-averaged light curve

Dear Colleagues,

We have received additional data from Gianluca Masi. We have put
phase-averaged light curves (against the orbital period) for the last
three nights on the Web. As stated by Masi, the profile of early superhumps
has changed on July 27. The present profile has a sharp maximum, and
very structured throughout the period. However, the phases of maxima
and minima are approximately the same as on the previous two nights,
suggesting that the period change is small (as far as the data are
concerned). Whether such a change in the profile is a common feature
of WZ Sge-type early superhumps, or it may reflect the emergence of
true superhumps, requires further observation. Note that nightly changes
in the profile of early superhumps were observed in the AL Com superoutburst
of this year (Ishioka et al.).
