In a recent paper on V1184 Tau, Semkov provides a UBVRI sequence for
the field. The text indicates these are based on five nights of observation
against 1992 Landolt standards. Below I show accurate coordinates for the
stars from the all-sky 2MASS catalogue, along with Semkov's data. He shows
UBVRI magnitudes, but I give them here as V and colors. I have omitted his
U-band data, since it was clear that the errors were large enough to make the
U-B colors meaningless. For each datum I show the nominal rms errors (errors
on colors taken in quadrature). The colors are reasonably consistent within
their stated uncertainties. I at first thought the anomalous V-I color of
star G resulted from a typo in the I magnitude (1 mag. too bright), but it is
consistent with that shown in USNO-B1.0 (I=13.39 versus mi=13.5 in B1.0).
Something odd may be going on with this one.
The BVR colors for all the stars are indicative of little or no
reddening. For V1184 Tau, I show approximate values for the magnitude and
colors.
