[vsnet-sequence 191] Faint photometry in E 8

The list below shows BVR photoelectric photometry for mostly red stars
(K giants and dwarfs) in the field of southern E-region 8 observed by Penfold
(1978MNRAS.182..283P). The data are available via GCPD but no coordinates are
present, and the stars are not in SIMBAD. I obtained coordinates for the
stars using the chart published with the paper. Star 127 is not marked on
Penfold's chart, and is omitted from the list.
The stars were observed with the Sutherland 1-m telescope and single-
channel photometer in the usual way. Data for the fainter stars is very rough
with errors of a couple tenths of a magnitude. The consistency of the BVR
colors looks okay for stars brighter than about V ~16.5. The brighter stars
can serve as a supplement to the primary SAAO standards and Graham 'faint'
standards in the same field.

Notes
121 large proper-motion dwarf.
122 reddened B star? (U-B = -0.33). UCAC proper motion spurious due to
      poor USNO-A2.0 position.
