Forgot to point out that the last 3 X-ray peaks are separated by a nearly constant interval (19-22 days): see http://lheawww.gsfc.nasa.gov/users/corcoran/eta_car/2003.5/resources/pcu2_l1_time_withflares.jpg which suggests that the next flare would be near July 8 - if we're not in the minimum!
