[vsnet-rcb 529] RY Sgr inminent fading
Dear colleagues,
Every observation confirms the supposition that RY Sagittarii is about to
enter a dep minimum.
I think a complete coverage from the beginning of the event would be
important so be careful beacuse it may happen in the next ten days.
The current pulsation cycle is fainter (0.3 mag.) and the amplitude is
clearly decreasing probably due to the material that has already been
ejected and compensates the current rising branch.
This is similar to the 1999 event so this i probably not a coincidence.
A correlation between pulsation and dust foramtion has been already
demonstrated (Clayton, 1996; Jeffery, 2000). This would be a good chance to
confirm it.
Some nearby stars suitable for PEP are:
HD 179904 V= 7.53 B= 7.54
HD 180070 V= 7.54 B= 7.66
HD 180653 V= 8.31 B= 9.57
