REGISTRATION
============

To register as a participant at the conference, please fill out the
registration page accessible via the "Registration" link on the
conference home
page (http://www.mso.anu.edu.au/~pn_symp). On the registration page, you
should also book any conference dinner or other organized activity in
which you
will be participating (see SOCIAL EVENTS below).

Any accompanying persons who would like to participate in all the lunches,
morning and afternoon teas, and the reception can be registered by paying
an
accompanying person's registration fee.

All costs are given on the registration page. Our preference is for
payment by
credit card via the web-based registration system. However, if this is
unacceptable, payment can be made on arrival (note that registration fee is
AU$325 if paid before 15 Sep, or AU$375 if paid after this date). The
current
exchange rate (1 May 2001) is approximately AU$1.00 for US$0.52.

The last date for registration is 15 Sept 2001.

ACCOMMODATION
=============

We have made block bookings with a number of places of accomodation.
These are
listed at the "Accomodation" link on the conference home page. All the
places
of accomodation are contactable via the world wide web, via email, or via
fax
and we expect participants will book their own accomodation. Please
mention
"IAU Symposium 209: Planetary Nebulae" in you contact booking to
guarantee the
prices quoted on the symposium accomodation page.

RECEPTION & SOCIAL EVENTS
=========================

A reception for all participants, hosted by the ACT Government, will be
held on
the evening of Sunday 18 November in the Regatta Point Centre overlooking
Lake
Burley Griffin.

A wine tasting evening will be held in the Red Belly Black Cafe at Mount
Stromlo Observatory on Tuesday 20 November.

There will be no scientific sessions during the afternoon of Wednesday 21
November. There will be organized activities for the afternoon. Either: a
trip to Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve to see the native wildlife (emus,
kangaroos,
wallabies, koalas, platypusses, cockatoos, rosellas, ducks and rangers);
or a
visit to the rural village of Bungendore for crafts and afternoon tea,
along
with the possibility of horse riding in the bush for a limited number of
people.

The conference dinner will be held in the Great hall of University House on
Thursday 22 November.

In addition to the above, some self-organized activities are suggested at
the
"Social events and suggested activities" link on the home page.

LOCATION
========

The conference will be held in the Dome of the Academy of Sciences,
surrounded
by gardens, adjacent to the ANU campus, and overlooking Lake Burley
Griffin in
the heart of Canberra, Australia's "bush capital" (see
http://www.act.gov.au).

Early summer is very pleasant in Canberra (15-28 C) and it is an
excellent time
to get a flavor of this spacious planned city and visit its many
interesting
institutions.

ABSTRACTS
=========

All contributors should email their abstracts to pn_symp@mso.anu.edu.au
by 15
October. The abstracts should be in a latex file based on the abstract
template downloadable from the conference home page. The abstracts will be
made into an abstract booklet which each participant will receive.
