V651 Mon is a close binary star. One of recently accepted models
are occasional passing of circumstellar clouds in front of the binary.
The A-type companion emits most of the visual light. Binary motion
behind the inhomogenious cloud is proposed to cause the 16-d modulation
during fading episodes.
I don't know there is a similar system to V651 Mon, but PNe with
binary central stars may have a chance to show similar phenomenon.
Disregarding the mechanism, QV Sge = IC 4997 is an imteresting variable
planetary nebula, yes, the nebula itself!
