[vsnet-outburst 2991] SDSSp J173008.38+624754.7 - refined superhump period

Dear colleagues,

Using 961 observations of SDSSp J173008.38+624754.7, obtained between
October 19 and October 27, 2001 at CBA Belgium Observatory and CBA East
(David Skillman), I have been able to determine an improved superhump period
value for this UGSU-type dwarf nova. Using Stellingwerf's PDM technique, I
derived a value of 0.07941 +/- 0.00006 d. This value is in very close
agreement with the findings of Makoto Uemura (VSNET collaboration team),
published in vsnet-campaign-dn 1786. It however somewhat differs from a more
recent value published by Uemura (vsnet-campaign-dn 1790), which might be
due to a shortening of the superhump period in this system.

All details are available on my renewed web site (see URL below), including
graphs showing the evolution of the outburst.

For those of you interested in the upcoming Leonid event, I have also
included a web page on my site describing the Leonid Expedition that I'm
preparing to observe this possible meteor storm from Flagstaff, AZ. The
article includes a lot of background material on the Leonids as well.

Best regards,
