Hi,
V1026 Sco made a dip last week.
This star used to be NSV 7344 and classified as an RCB.
Recently, in the 73th namelist it was renamed V1026 Sco and
reclassified as IA (we used to associate this with the donkey
sound).
Monitoring this star since June 1996, I recorded magnitudes
between 8.5 and 9.0 using the revised sequences.
Until last week:
observations for Aug 1997
UT Magn
3.7 8.6
6.8 9.0
7.789 9.7 *
7.95 9.7
8.705 9.6
9.826 9.1
10.712 9.0
* at that moment I wondered about the correctness of its new
classification. Obviously I was keen do do an early observation
the next night!
Could this have been an eclipse? I think not much is known about
this star.... or am I wrong?
It helps to have clear skies!
Best regards,
Berto Monard / MLF,
Pretoria
I'll keep a nightly watch on it for some time to come.
