Simbad seems to resolve SS 96 into SS 2-96. There are (to my knowledge)
two sets of SS catalogs. For example, the famous SS 433 (V1343 Aql) is
actually in the second SS catalog. Allen apparently used the first SS
catalog for notation of symbiotic stars.
