G'day all,
Nova Sco 1997 observations for Jun 13 & 14 UT, using VSS RASNZ AI Sco
sequence:
Jun 13 10:36 11.6?
13 12:31 11.4
14 15:02 11.8
14 15:27 11.8?
14 15:49 11.7
14 16:02 11.6
The doubtful observations were done through holes in cloud.
The reported magnitudes in VSNET suggest short-term variations and/or
sequence conflicts. I have attempted several observations per night in
an effort to detect variations. Limited success because it's winter...
I also compared the GSC & HIC mags for this field with the AI Sco
sequence on June 14; after moonset and while the field was still high in
my sky. Limiting magnitude about 12.5-13.0.
Many stars are noticeably fainter (about 1 mag?) than catalogued in the
GSC. The HIC magnitudes (vsnet-alert 975) near the nova seem correct.
I don't have the AAVSO VZ Sgr chart.
This is another good topic for vsnet-chat. Comments, anyone?
cheers,
Fraser Farrell
