Recently some observers with small telescopes report the star R And around
12.0 or even brighter. I find it is near minimum now about 14.5.
The predictions of AAVSO and AFOEV also indicate that this star now is near
minimum.
Observers with small telescopes should take more care when observing faint
stars at or even beyond the limiting magnitudes of their instruments.
Consulting the AAVSO-predictions may help planning observing sessions and may
also help avoiding mistakes as mentioned here.
