Dear Colleagues,
I think the differences in reporting format arise from the fact
that the observers use different computer programs for
entering their data.
I use a program supplied by the AAVSO for entering my
observations. It lists designation, star name, JD, mag, observer and
comments.
This is the AAVSO format.
On VSNET it is normal to use UT instead of JD.
Before I send my observations to VSNET I then have to use
another program that converts JD to UT in my listings.
Clearly what is needed is a common computer program for
entering observations. This program must then be able to
output the observations in several formats, i.e. for
AAVSO, for VSNET etc.
Regards
Lasse Teist Jensen (JLT)
