VARIABLE STAR OBSERVATIONS - REPORT OF 1995 JULY 13

This report contains visual observations of selected variable stars
since 1995 June 1. The time system is date with decimals in Universal
Time. All observations are by Bjorn H. Granslo (Fjellhamar, Norway),
using an 8-inch SCT and 7x35 binoculars. Due to the bright summer
nights from our latitude (60 degrees north) only the brighter stars
were observable. The naked eye limiting magnitude was around 3.5 (at
best) near summer solstice, but has now improved to 4.5.

The RV Tauri variable R Scuti is currently undergoing a deep minimum.
Due to poor weather in late June only the declining phase of
SS Cygni's last eruption was observed.

A meeting of the Norwegian Variable Star Section was held on June 28.

                                                    Yours sincerely,
                                                    Bjorn H. Granslo
