[vsnet-obs 596] Re: PG 1510+234

Dear Guy Hurst and CV fans,

The alternative designation we have given (NSV 06690) was actually in
error as Guy Hurst has correctly pointed out. The identification of this
PG star we have made is NSV 06990. Thanks a lot!

(Semi)accurate position provided by M. Iida from the vsnet chart is as
follows:

   Measured 151302.20 +231509.0(2000)
   Cataloged 151302.35 +231507.9(2000)

The measured value may have positional error up to 2 or 3 arcsec, because
of lack of suitable positional standard stars in the small field of view
of our CCD frame.

The "RR Lyr" nature of the NSV object is a puzzle. Considering that no
corresponding star in the vicinity of the NSV position, and good positional
coincidence, we have identified NSV 06990 with PG 1510+234, assuming discovery
of NSV 06990 was done during the outbursting phase of this dwarf nova.
Similar occasions of older "short period variable" classification can be
found in several well-known dwarf novae, like DO Dra = YY Dra (Algol type),
AK Cnc (initially a short period variable) etc.
