VARIABLE STAR OBSERVATIONS DURING 1995 APRIL - REPORT OF 1995 MAY 2

This report contains visual observations of selected eruptive and cata-
clysmic variables since 1995 April 1. Time system is date with decimals
in Universal Time. All observations are by Bjorn H. Granslo (Fjellhamar,
Norway). Observations from Apr 1 and Apr 30 GMAT were made from Aarnes,
and observations from Apr 15 and 16 were made from Malm. The main in-
strument was a 20.3-cm SCT. A plus sign (+) indicates corrections to
    the NAS.VSS report of 1995 April 5.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

The highlights of 1995 April was a very rare outburst of AL Com, a
notable fading of V1057 Cygni, and the long awaited outburst of U Gem.
In addition, the following dwarf novae were seen in outburst: RX And,
Z Cam (two maxima), SY Cnc, YZ Cnc (normal max.), SS Cyg (fading from a
long maximum in March), EM Cyg (two outbursts), AH Her (at standstill?),
X Leo, and SU UMa (normal max.). WW Vul appeared fainter than usual on
April 30. O. Midtskogen, Tranby, Norway has also reported an outburst
    of CH UMa. His observations are: 1995 Apr 28.949 UT, mag. 12.9;
    Apr. 29.992, 12.1.

    Y. Takenaka, VSOLJ, Japan, has reported that R CrB may have faded
slightly during April and the beginning of May, and the observations by
undersigned also indicate that R CrB may have faded during April.
Further observing will be attempted as soon as possible.

Nova Aql 1995 has apparently not reached its expected fade due to dust
condensation by the end of April (ref. IAUC 6154, AAVSO Circ. 205).
The magnitudes were deduced from Pogson step estimates by using
    B. Skiff's photoelectric V, b-y sequence.

                                                    Yours sincerely,
                                                    Bjorn H. Granslo
