Date: Tue, 24 Jun 2003 10:56:49 -0400 From: "W.Liller" <wliller@compuserve.com> Subject: More on LMC variable Hola everyone - Here are all the CCD-V magnitudes that I have measured for that strange variable in the LMC: LMC variable 20030620.958 12.15V LIL Through clouds LMC variable 20030621.958 12.39V LIL = LMC variable 20030623.959 12.61V LIL = Because of haze and light pollution, etc., the two latest values must be +/-0.10, but clearly, the star is now fading. As for color, I find the star getting steadily bluer. However, I don't have much faith in the B-V values I have been measuring because of the low altitude of the star and the above-mentioned pollution. Don't quote me but last night the B-V was close +0.5. The comparison stars used were the five nearest TYCHO stars with V brighter than 11.7. All have B-V values between +0.36 and +0.96 so the atmospheric extinction corrections must be small (and none were applied). Let's hope that Howard Bond's man at CTIO can get a spectrum tonight !
