For what it's worth, the 2MASS position for the faint star about
5" southeast of the brighter red star is: 5 08 26.21 -68 26 28.0 (J2000),
with uncertainty nominally 0".20 in RA and 0".38 in Dec. The star
was detected only in the J band, however, so can't tell much about it.
One can suspect however that the new object simply isn't present
on existing surveys.
