Dear Stan,
>>>>Whilst measuring this field I noticed a very red star GSC 6846 6. Is
this a known variable - my catalogue is a bit dated? It looks like a rather
red Mira star near maximum. Some measures:
GSC 6846 6 RA 18 03 17.1 (2000) Dec -25 14 20
2002 Sep 23 0750UT V = 11.74 V-R = 2.08
2002 Oct 10 0804UT V = 11.16 V-R = 1.96
This star IS NOT catalogued as a variable star. Tycho-2 gives V 11.2 and B-V
1.5.
There is strong variability on your data so I think you must keep observing
this one!!
Best wishes,
Sebastian.
