(fwd) [vsnet-chat 4915] Re: New Takamizawa variable (TmzV876) Date: Wed, 7 Nov 2001 18:53:36 -0700 (MST) From: Brian Skiff <bas@lowell.edu> The Kohoutek H-alpha catalogue doesn't give the source, but it could be that the spectral type A2V comes from the survey by Voroshilov et al., in which case there is an error in the identification. The A2V star is GSC 4037-2221 about 1'.5 away, and is rather brighter than the Vatican star. I agree, however, that the IRAS colors and also MSX detection and fluxes, plus the UBV colors shown by SIMBAD are a little odd. I would tend to suspect some sort of close binary, perhaps VV Cep type---the UBV colors are consistent with a binary involving a brighter cool component and a fainter hot component (with a moderate amount of reddening). This is clearly an interesting star. Given the low galactic latitude, perhaps other of the sky patrol observers have additional data. \Brian
