Dear Dr. Chris Lloyd, > In the announcement the new variable star MisV0786 is suggested to be an > SR variable but the variation looks more like that of a mira, with an > amplitude >2 mags and a period of >200 days. Further observations are > encouraged. Probably it is a mira type star. But they say the amplitide of a mira type star is larger than 2.5 mag, and if it is smaller than 2.5 mag, it is a semeregular variable. I know the threshold is for V mag and I guess it should be smaller in case of unfiltered CCD images. But I do not know the correct threshold. So in principle, the type is attached based on the 2.5 mag threshold.
