Possible nova in Pup: Liller's spectrum
W. Liller forwards the following report:
Date: Wed, 3 Jan 2001 17:34:16 -0500
From: "W.Liller" <wliller@compuserve.com>
Subject: Nova suspect
Hi Dan,
Here is some fodder for the IAUC:
W.Liller, Vina del Mar, Chile, obtained a low-resolution spectrogram of the
nova suspect in Puppis (cf. IAUC 7552) on Jan 3.235, 2001 UT using a 0.20-m
Schmidt with objective prism and a CCD. It shows moderately strong narrow
emission lines of H-alpha and He I at 5876 A; both are approximately 40%
brighter than the neighboring continuum. The Fe II lines reported by M.
Fujii also continue strong. Liller measured broadband V magnitudes of 9.00
on Jan 2.092 and 9.08 on Jan 3.182.
