[vsnet-ip 13] Re: [vsnet-campaign 572] TV Col outburst: observations needed! -why?

Dear Dr. Kato,

What's the motivation for the observations? This behaviour of TV Col is
well known (Szkody \& Mateo 1984; Schwartz et al. 1988; Hellier \& Buckley
1993; Augusteijn et al. 1994). These are only fast (less than 1-d)
mini-outbursts (1-2 mags). They are most likely mass transfer events.
TV Col has almost certainly returned to its normal brightness by now
(or will do it by tomorrow). If the outburst continues for long, then
observations are really important, but it is unlikely. I also note that
the negative superhumps and the evidence for positive superhumps appeared
during the faint normal state.

Regards,
Alon
