It looks to me as though Mati got things slightly garbled. The
red variable is unamibguously GSC 8584-1180. The position he gave is for
a faint companion 8" northwest of the much brighter red star. The best
position is from UCAC1:
TZ Velorum 9 30 27.59 -53 08 49.3 (2000)
The star appears in many catalogues back to the AC, where it was recorded
in 1894. Among the aliases:
GSC 8584-1180 = IRAS 09287-5255 = MSX5C G275.4660-01.3474
