[vsnet-id 664] Jaidee & Lynga blue stars



     A list of far-southern violet-bright objects was published in 1974 by
Jaidee & Lynga (1974ArA.....5..345J).  Though all are listed in SIMBAD, most
appear at the original approximate coordinates.  The list below gives accurate/
precise positions for all 296 entries along with basic identifications.
     Most of the objects are UV-bright stars of various sorts:  metal-poor
A/F stars, blue horizontal-branch stars, dwarf novae, and white dwarfs.  The
list also contains a number of galaxies and quasars.  I have flagged all the
known extragalactic objects as 'gx' (galaxy) or 'QSO' (quasar).  Since many of
these are ROSAT x-ray sources, it is likely that some of the other x-ray
sources are also extragalactic, but appear stellar on DSS scans.  (I have
examined all the x-ray sources without other identifications.)
     Since many of the white dwarfs and other stars have substantial proper
motion, I have tried to obtain positions for either epoch 2000 (via UCAC1 and
Tycho-2), or for a recent epoch.
     Jaidee & Lynga gave no magnitudes for their objects.  While some have been
observed photometrically by others, I show here blue magnitudes (mostly from
USNO-A2.0) as a general guide to brightness.  Several of the stars are GCVS
variables.
     The remarks column shows 'new' IDs in SIMBAD (multiple entries for the
same object), while the notes at the bottom of the table contain additional
IDs and longer remarks.
