Appended below is a list of accurate coordinates for the 41 variable stars
in the globular cluster NGC 2419. These were obtained by comparing charts in
a 1935 paper by Baade and a more recent study by Pinto & Rosino with current
catalogues and with DSS images. The Pinto & Rosino paper has an excellent
chart of the field. Because of crowding, even positions from the astrometric
catalogues are not necessarily accurate to the precision given, but are for
'center-of-blob' of the relevant clump of stars. They should be good to 1"-2"
in the worst cases. My estimates from DSS images are correspondingly less
accurate as well. Measurement of large-scale plates or images will be required
to improve the positions significantly.
The acronym for the names is the one recommended in the Lortet et al.
"Dictionary". None of the stars is in SIMBAD at present.
\Brian
