While scanning some journals I came across a paper by van den Bergh et al.
that contains comments on some new faint variables near M31. Although
positions nominally good to ~1 arcsec are given, I have looked up the stars in
modern catalogues to see if they could be improved. The results are given
below.
All the stars could be found in USNO-A2.0, 2MASS, or in the recently-
released Cambridge APM northern catalogue, all searchable using the Strasbourg
VizieR utility. I give the A2.0 or APM photo-red magnitudes and 'b-r' colors
and 2MASS J-K colors as available. All the 2MASS detections are near the
catalogue limit, and so the photometry is uncertain in every case, and thus I
have rounded the J-K colors to 0.1-mag. precision.
All but one of the stars appear at one point or another in the GCVS
catalogues, and I show the names in the last column. Star 'm' is the
well-known dwarf nova LS And, for which the van den Bergh paper is the
discovery announcement.
