[vsnet-id 424] Identification of VX Dra

Hi,

during one of last observing nights I try to get a CCD image
of VX Dra. But I found no star at the specified GCVS position (a POSS
image show also no brighter object).

VX Dra position in GCVS: 1950.0 RA: 153335. DE +623100
Spectral type G5, Mag 11.1-11.6P, P=0.892d/n

Nearby the star W UMa-star FU Dra ( GSC4181.673 = HIP76272 ) can be found.
Position 2000.0 15h34m45.53s 62o16'44.1"

Transforming the position of FU Dra to an epoch of ~1930.0
( 15h33m34s 62o30'38 ) results in a value
nearly identical to the 1950.0 epoch GCVS value of VX Dra. Also the
given spectral type G0, the amplitude of 0.52 mag is of the same order
as in the case of VX Dra.

Can VX Dra be identical to FU Dra?

Regards,
Jochen Pietz
