- Sender: owner-vsnet-id@kusastro.kyoto-u.ac.jp
Here are accurate coordinates and identifications for about 80 variables
in the southern Cygnus starcloud observed by Wachmann, in part 3 of his series
from the Hamburg Abhandlungen. Most of these stars are listed in SIMBAD with
only semi-accurate coordinates. I used the GSC and A2.0 catalogues along with
Wachmann's excellent charts to make the identifications. This list posed a
few challenges, which were mainly solved by examination of the POSS-I prints.
One star, V898 Cyg, could not be identified unambiguously.
The first part of the table gives the new variables found by Wachmann,
followed by known ones he studied. In the first column is the designation
given by Wachmann, and the second column gives the GCVS name. Equinox 2000
positions follow, along with GSC names as available. Column 's' shows the
source of the coordinates: G = GSC v1.1, A = USNO-A2.0, S = SkyView,
H = Hipparcos. The Remarks column shows other names if they are "new", i.e.
either not present or not linked in the same SIMBAD entry.
Note on the biblio: this issue of the Abhandlungen is printed with
page numbers starting at 1, but a type-written correction glued to the title
page indicates "S.[Seite] 179-279". These continue the page numbering from
part 2, so I have used this in the bibcode and citation.
\Brian
