The American observer Karl Misselt has reported in the sci.astro news group that the dwarf nova IR Geminorum was seen in outburst on Dec. 19 07h48m UT. Oernulf Midtskogen has reported that it was not seen and fainter than magnitude 14.5 during the night December 17/18 U.T. IR Geminorum is a SU UMa-type dwarf nova with short outbursts which only last for a couple of days and longer and brighter outburts, called super- maxima, which are about a magnitude brighter and lasts for 1-2 weeks. According to the General Catalogue of Variable Stars, 4th edition, IR Gem varies from V = 10.7 to fainter than 14.5. The mean period is 35 days. It is located at RA = 06h 44m 26s, Decl. = +28d 09'.7 (1950.0). The corresponding position for 2000.0 is: 06h 47m 35s, +28d 06'.4. Bjorn H. Granslo granslo@argo.uio.no
