Here is the first night on a magnitude sequence near Nova Cas 1993 for
the use of visual obsevers. The stars were measured using the Lowell 53cm
photometric telescope with Stromgren y and b filters in a 29-arcsec diaphragm.
Uncertainties should be well under 0.02 brighter than V ~11, and better than
0.03 below that. Positions come from the GSC.

Because of the emission-line nature of the nova's spectrum, the magnitude
and color for it cannot be considered to be on the standard system, but on
some instrumental system, despite being corrected for the nominal color term
of the instrumental system.
I will get a second night of obsevations on these stars and try to fill
in the gaps in the sequence as well. Note that the faintest star is quite
red, and will not only appear fainter visually than indicated here, but is
also likely to be somewhat variable (the color suggests a reddend M giant).
I will measure a replacement of more ordinary color.
