Subject: V1413 Aquilae
***** V1413 AQUILAE - A SYMBIOTIC VARIABLE STAR *****
V1413 Aquilae (AS 338) is an eclipsing symbiotic system located at R.A. =
19h 03m 46.8s, Decl. = +16d 26' 19" (2000.0). According to a report by
U. Munari and B. F. Yudin in IAU Circular No. 5884 (1993 October 28) it has
entered an outburst phase and its magnitude has increased from V = 13.0 in
1990 to 11.2 on 1993 October 27.85 UT. The colour index has decreased from
B-V = +1.00 to +0.65 during the same time interval.
Recent spectroscopy from Asiago Observatory shows that the emission lines
from He I, He II and [O III] has disappeared since 1993 June and only faint
Balmer lines remain visible. A spectroscopic study by L. Kohoutek in 1965
(Bull. Astr. Inst. Czech., 16, 189) showed lines from He I, He II, [Fe VII],
TiO, and H2O.
V1413 Aql has been on a smooth decline since its eruption in 1982 (Munari
et al., 1992: Astron. Astrophys. Suppl. Ser., 93, 383).
This system received a formal variable star name in "The 71st Name-List of
Variable Stars" (Kazarovetz, E. V. et al., 1993: Inf. Bull. Var. Stars.,
No. 3840). The maximum and minimum magnitudes are listed as V = 10.6 and
V = 15.1, respectively.
This object has been observed by members of Variable Star Observers League
of Japan and the following visual observations are available by October 29:
