From: Patrick Schmeer
Date: 1992-07-21 (updated on July 21)

RARE OUTBURST OF BC URSAE MAJORIS (NOW CONFIRMED)

BC URSAE MAJORIS  (UGSU:)
Herewith I wish to report my detection of a rare outburst of
this probable SU UMa-type dwarf nova. The brightening has been
confirmed by Gary Poyner.
The following visual magnitude estimates are available:
July 16.876 UT, (12.7 (P. Schmeer, Bischmisheim, Germany);
18.93, 12.0: (Schmeer); 19.897, (13.3 (Schmeer); 19.951, 13.9
(G. Poyner, Birmingham, England).
The previous outburst (apparently a supermaximum) was observed
in 1990, when BC UMa reached mv= 10.9 on September 9 (cf. IAUC
5089, 5091).

Regards,
Patrick (Schmeer)
