EP Car outburst Rod Stubbings reports that the dwarf nova EP Car is in outburst. This object has been suspected to be an SU UMa-type dwarf nova (see vsnet-alert 4238; the observation was done during the 2000 February outburst; see also vsnet-alert 4245 for an update). Although the nature of the present outburst is not yet determined, time-series CCD photometry during the current outburst is strongly encouraged! The last reported outburst occurred in 2002 June (long outburst?). Gordon Garradd reported the following position from the 2000 February CCD images (vsnet-alert 4235). 10 28 23.138 -58 57 58.21 (J2000.0) The finding charts are available at: http://vsnet.kusastro.kyoto-u.ac.jp/pub/vsnet/DNe/EP_Car/epcar.gif http://vsnet.kusastro.kyoto-u.ac.jp/pub/vsnet/DNe/EP_Car/eplarge.gif YYYYMMDD(UT) mag observer 20030103.624 <146 (Rod Stubbings) 20030104.546 <150 (Rod Stubbings) 20030105.548 <148 (Rod Stubbings) 20030106.521 <148 (Rod Stubbings) 20030110.535 <146 (Rod Stubbings) 20030111.524 <144 (Rod Stubbings) 20030112.790 <150 (Andrew Pearce) 20030122.525 146 (Rod Stubbings) According to Downes's CV catalog (on-line), the object is listed as a non-CV.
