New list: vsnet-gcvs Dear Colleagues, We have set up a new list, vsnet-gcvs, as a part of the distributed GCVS revision project. This projects creates our own database of proposed GCVS/NSV entry revisions, and is transferred to the GCVS team and the SIMBAD team so that the GCVS editor can review the information. Revisions includes the following items. field name format (necesary items) ----------------------------------------- TYPE type RANGE max min band EPHEMERIS epoch period m/d SPEC spectrum (m/d = Max-Min or D depending on the variable star type) Suggested revisions should be sent one data per one line, which begins with "add" and followed by field_name object_name and items. The object_name should be expressed in the VSNET format (captalized constellation abbreviation and star name, without a space). Each item should not contain any space characters. When the item is missing (because of the absence of data or the item should be essentially blank), put "-" character in the item. Other formats of the data should follow the on-line GCVS standard expression (type should be all capitals, "fainter than" is "(", decimals in magnitude desired, epoch in JD-2400000 (not MJD) etc.) Nothing else should be written in each line. Example: add TYPE SERQW UGSU add TYPE AQLCI NR+E Authors are strongly recommended to add (in different paragraph) the reference to the revision data (URL, Journal bibligraphy, VSNET message number etc.). In order to cancel the revision, replace the "add" in the line by "cancel" and submit the same data to the list. Submitted data are archived (and can be referenced), and later extracted for creating a database. We plan to reflect these revisions to the VSNET individual variable page. Revisions of coordinates (R.A. and Decl.) should be sent to the well-established vsnet-id list, not to this list. ======== The initial list of vsnet-gcvs includes members of vsnet-id, vsnet-newvar, and vsnet-chat. If one wish to subscribe or unsubscribe to vsnet-gcvs, please send a message to vsnet-adm, with a text line SUBSCRIBE vsnet-gcvs your e-mail address or UNSUBSCRIBE vsnet-gcvs your e-mail address Please feel free to distribute this message to interested parties or persons who may be interested in this field of variable stars.
