AA Cnc I have noticed that several people started monitoring AA Cnc. Has there been an initiative for some kind of campaign? The star is a UV Cet star (flare star), which had been classified as a possible dwarf nova in the past. With the current monitoring, the star may become the "best monitored" flare star by visual observations, although the implication of nightly single observations is still uncertain. [This star was also monitored by the VSOLJ members around the 1980's.] Identifications: GSC1945.2142 083723.11 +261228.6 (2000.0) 14.02 1 2MASS 083722.868 +261224.46 (2000.0) 9.762 9.168 8.919 083723.1 +261228 (2000.0) CNCAA * UV: 12.1: 14.6 P - - - R1/CNC USNO1125.05755228 083723.454 +261239.50 (2000.0) 13.1 15.8 083723.3 +261241 (2000.0) G40-31 14.6pg mu=.46 083723.3 +261241 (2000.0) NLTT 13.4R k-m mu=0.414 083723.3 +261241 (2000.0) UBV_G40-31 14.18 1.53 1.05 .013 .007 .029 - N=3 Nm=4 - The object is also a high proper motion star. Be careful when comparing with DSS or POSS, or derive upper limits based on the object's coordinates. Regards, Taichi Kato
