An unavoidable question: what is the value of a flare star observation? The

Some hints?
Anyway, it's fun!
And that's why most of us do it.
Best wishes,

Sebastian:
Regarding observations of flare stars, I was lucky earlier this month to visually catch a flare in UV Cet. My observations were:
DEC 01.0417 2452609.5417 12.0 AAVSO chart
DEC 01.0451 2452609.5451 11.0
DEC 01.0590 2452609.559 11.9
DEC 01.0687 2452609.5687 12.0
It was really amazing how the star brightened by at least a magnitude in a matter of minutes. It also faded rapidly too. By the time I sent out an alert notice it had already faded to quiescence.
