[vsnet-ecl 365] Variability of NSV 2544, a comparison star for S&AU Cam

Dear colleagues,

we have discovered that the 107 comparison star on the AAVSO
chart for S Cam is an eclipsing binary.

The star GSC 4344.123 = NSV 2544 = comp 107 has been
revealed as a W UMa type variable star on the basis of our
CCD V band measurements. Depth of primary minima is 0.63 mag
and depth of secondary minima is 0.44 mag. Period of
variability is about 0.434 days. Light curve, precise
ephemerides and further informations are available in IBVS
No. 5132.

Please note that NSV 2544 is wrongly identified on the AAVSO
chart for S Cam, the right identification is staten above.
Hence, the 107 comparison star should not be used for visual
observations of S Cam and AU Cam.

Best regards,

Ondrej Pejcha

on behalf of the NSV 2544 team (M. Lehky, P. Sobotka, L.
Brat, M. Haltuf, L. Smelcer)
