Subject: [vsnet-chat 3954] BL Tel 2000 Eclipse Summary
Dear All,
Results of visual observations of the recent BL Tel eclipse have now been
submitted to the Publications of the VSS RASNZ. Based on 225 visual
observations by 11 Australian observers, this eclipse can be summarised as
follows :
GJD 2000(UT) Remark
2400000+
51776.5 Aug 20.0 Eclipse commenced
51809.5 Sept 22.0 Minimum brightness reached
51812.5 Sept 25.0 Mid eclipse
51815.5 Sept 28.0 Minimum ends
51844.5 Oct 27.0 Eclipse ended
The above indicates an overall duration of 68.0 days and 6 days of constant
brightness at minimum suggests this eclipse was total. The date of mid
eclipse is 778.0 days since that of the previously observed eclipse.
Minimum brightness was 9.6v giving an amplitude 2.5 magnitudes.
Based on these dates, the next eclipse of BL tel will be centered near 2002
November 11 which will unfortunately place it near conjunction with the
Sun.
Following is a progressive Table of results for BL Tel eclipses observed by
members of the VSS RASNZ.
