[vsnet-conference 88] (fwd) 11th International Conference onTerahertz Electronics (THz2003)

****** THz2003 Final Call for Paper ******

The 11th IEEE International Conference on Terahertz Electronics
September 24-27, 2003 Sendai International Center, Sendai, Japan
http://www.thz2003.org/

THz 2003 will be held in Sendai, Japan, commencing in the evening of
September 24 (Wed) and running until late afternoon on Sep. 26 (Fri).

Important Deadlines:
* Submission of Abstracts: May 11, 2003
* Notification of Acceptance: June 20, 2003
* Pre-registration: Aug. 25, 2003
* Obligatory Confirmation of Attendance: Aug. 25, 2003

The main goal of this series of conference is to provide a forum for the
exchange of information on physics, technologies, and
applications of the new and interdisciplinary field of infrared-
terahertz-millimeter frequency regions and to discuss future directions
of terahertz technologies in order to foster applications of the
emerging technologies. The topics of this
conference will be the recent developments in THz sources and
detectors, THz spectroscopy and imaging, biomedical applications,
RF-MEMS, and THz system integrations, etc.

Scope: The following is a representative list of topics to be
covered at the conference;
* Generation : pulsed THz generation, optical parametric generation,
photomixing, quantum cascade lasers, new concepts for solid state
THz sources, recent developments in existing solid state sources
and multiplier technologies
* Detection : semiconductor/superconductor detectors and mixers,
photon counting devices, broadband coherent detection, ultrafast
photodetectors
* Devices and Components : new fabrication and integration
technologies, RF-MEMS, photonic crystals, waveguides
* Spectroscopy : ultrafast dynamics in condensed matter, gases,
liquids and biological materials, new spectroscopic systems,
environmental monitoring
* Imaging : near-field microscopy, tomography, new imaging systems
* Biomedical and Other Topical Applications : biomedical spectroscopy
and imaging
* Ultrafast Telecommunication Systems

Submission of Abstracts: Prospective authors are requested to submit
their one-page camera-ready abstract in the PDF format by May 11, 2003.
Completed abstracts should be e-mailed to thz2003_submit@riken.jp as
a PDF attachment. Only in case the authors will not be able to prepare
PDF files, MS Word files will also be accepted.

Confirmation E-mail: After the abstract submission, a confirmation
e-mail from the THz2003 Secretariat will be sent to you. If you have
not received the confirmation e-mail within three days after the
submission, please contact the THz2003 Secretariat. Please note that
the confirmation e-mail will be sent only to the corresponding author,
and not to the other co-authors.

Registration Fee:
Regular participants:
35,000 Yen (before Aug. 25); 40,000 Yen (after Aug. 25)
Students:
20,000 Yen (before Aug. 25); 25,000 Yen (after Aug. 25)
A special discount will be offered to the participants who will attend
both THz2003 and IRMMW2003 ! 20,000 Yen for regular participants and
10,000 Yen for students will be paid back at the IRMMW2003 registration
desk.

There will be a one-night post-conference excursion to Sakunami Spa-
Resort on Sept. 26, and this will be followed by a tour of the
laboratories at RIKEN and Tohoku Univ. on Sept. 27. After the tour,
the bus will take participants to Sendai station and Sendai airport, so
that those who wish to do so can go on to IRMMW2003. Registration fee
does not include post-conference excursion.
