The subject of this Workshop is an area of research that has become particularly close to him over the last few decades: the Asymptotic Giant Branch (AGB) Stars. Although AGB stars play an important role in tracing Galactic Structure, especially that of the inner parts of the Milky Way Galaxy, this Workshop will focus on the dying stars themselves: their nature, their composition, their evolution. Major Topics Include: o The Stars Themselves: Interior Structure, Atmospheres o The Stellar Environment: Mass Loss, Circumstellar Envelopes o Evolution: Synthetic Evolution, Post-AGB Stars o AGB Populations: Surveys, Local Group Galaxies, Binaries Organizing Committee: F.P. Israel, E.F. van Dishoeck, H.J. van Langevelde, J.Lub, M. Messineo, M. Sevenster, W. Vlemmings More details will be available in the near future. A call for contributions will be released in fall.
