Sorry, there was an incorrect URL in that email; corrected below. In general, you should be able to do photometry with a QC, but I have never seen anyone do so. I would worry a bit about linearity and antiblooming, so the first targets I would try would be a field with calibrated stars over a wide magnitude range and colors, such as M67 or NGC7790, so that you can look for systematic effects.
