  Exactly.  I think only a star within a semi-detached binary system
can be observed on such stage. 

  The assumption that the transversal velocity of this star is 10 km/s
would possibly not be real.  If it is 100 km/s, which is commonly
observed for the halo-origin stars, M_V becomes about +1 (giant).
