This is just what you referred to as a "negative reference". Although
the VSNET campaigns stress on CVs, they also cover a wider range of
variable star phenomena (as you must have seen in weekly "News from VSNET",
from which information much of the AAVSO people are unfortunately blocked
by the AAVSO server). The number of different objects the VSNET members
have been following is more than 15000, covering all classes of variable
stars. The number of people on the VSNET lists is far greater than what
you have shown. Website? Take a look. The scope is clearly different
between these organizations, but the breadth and depth (too add, history
of the internet presence) would illustrate what anyone may wish to see.
