Because it takes so much time to check > them. If a user of the data is going to make a statistical apporoach, such observations may be worth reporting. (e.g. If one allows a situation that 90% of MISAO project data are correct to 0.1-0.2 mag, 5% may be in error to 1 mag, 5% may be totally in error, or something like that). Au automatic warning on unusually scattered observations (as pointed out by Sebastian), discordant observations before reporting would certainly reduce such errors. (Won't you equip such a function in PIXY, Yoshida-san?) My feeling is that not all visual observations have been equally throughly checked. Even compared to traditional visual observations, the error rate in MISAO data may be already lower, although there may be surprising ones like a dramatic fading of Rigel ;-). Regards, Taichi Kato PS. Before incoporating Maciej's data to the VSNET database, I personally tried to check some of these inconsistencies. Attached is a list of warnings. The warnings were based a comparison with the nearest existing observation (mostly visual). There are a lot of false postive and negatives, and no checks were done for the objects reported for the first time.
